The world around me is a mirror reflecting the person I am.
The good I find in others, is in me too.
The faults I find in others are my faults.
After all, to recognize something I must know it. To change my world,
I must change myself.
To blame and complain will only make matters
worse.
What I see in others shows me myself.
Today let me appreciate
beauty and be beautiful, let me admire creativity and be creative, let
me love and be loved, let me seek to understand and be understood.

Hi Kate. What a wonderful surprise! I was looking for a way to communicate with you and found your poem. It is so lovely, delicate and honest. I often have similar thoughts. When I am feeling good- it is so easy to be kind and patient. But when I'm feeling low, I will ruminate on the ugliness of others and the world until my eyes roll back, steam fuming outta my ears... it's not pretty and it doesn't happen often but...THIS is a good, gentle reminder. To respond to the negativity in the world, helps to perpetuate it! A friend of mine likes to quote- be kind, for every stranger is fighting a great battle. I hope the lady at Tmobile thought of this as I ranted about my phone. We met at a shin dig over the weekend and I lost your info cos my phone, well, much of its contents have disappeared. So I googled you and found this! Yay! I really like your poetry. Would you email me so I can ask you a question? joyce.brew@yahoo.com Thank you...
